On Monday, December 14th, I have an exciting show at Jimmy Mak’s. The evening will feature three groups -- the Upper Left Trio (a fantastic piano trio featuring Clay Giberson, Jeff Leonard, and Charlie Doggett), Duo Chronicles (my duo project with Clay Giberson), and the Upper Left Trio with myself joining in on saxophones.
As usual on Monday nights, there is no cover charge. Music runs from 8-11 PM.
This week, I’ve been using my last free time before Ragtime at Portland Center Stage to put the finishing touches on my newest project: Duo Chronicles.
The project follows pianist Clay Giberson and myself as we try to present a song a week for a year. The songs are recorded in HD video and posted on the project’s website. Fans can follow along via the site, Facebook, email, etc – more information on the subscribe page.
All of the video content is free to watch, so I’m hoping everyone will head over and check out the videos. For the musicians out there, we’re also uploading some of the sheet music so that you can follow along.
I’m a huge podcast fan. I have a fairly length commute into town during which I’m always listening to something on my iPhone. Around the apartment, if I’m doing chores, I’ve got earbuds in digesting as many podcasts as I can.
Recently, I’ve been checking out some of the CD Baby podcast, which seems to have some great ideas for musicians. I’d encourage anyone (sideman or a leader) to check it out. I’m getting more and more ideas for things to do with an upcoming project I’ll be doing with Clay Giberson. Keep an eye on this space…
